Boracay 101 for Dummies

Boracay is one of the most sought beaches in the whole world. It is an island of the Philippines located approximately 315 km south of Metro Manila and 2 km off the northwest tip of Panay Island. Tourists from different parts of the globe travel to the Philippines to experience the extremely fine and white sand that Boracay has to offer.

If you are from the Phil and want to go on a vacation, I would highly recommend that you consider going to Bora. And for those who already have plans on doing so, I’m sure you guys and gals would need some information on the whereabouts of the place. Below are some important tips that I believe you must know before visiting Boracay.

Planning the Trip:

  • It is better to plan ahead, say 3 to 6 months before the actual date of vacation, you can already book a flight from Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific or Zest Air. If you book early, you can get their seat sale promo which is usually Php499 (one-way trip) excluding the tax, Travel Sure, etc.
  • You can consider both Caticlan and Kalibo as destinations but I notice that it is a lot cheaper when you choose to go to Kalibo.
  • Caticlan airport is small but is proximal to the beach (Station 1, 2 and 3). While Kalibo airport is more developed but it will take 1 and a half to 2 hour-drive to the beach. Some resorts offer Airport transfers, costs depends if you are coming from Kalibo or Caticlan.

Top 5: Red Coconut Beach Hotel - This is located between Station 1 and Station 2, near D’ Mall. If you are the type of person who loves to party, hang out at night, grab a drink or two and loves loud music, then Red Coconut is the best place for you. They have an attractive bar overlooking the beach where you can enjoy and meet new peeps.

Top 4: Residencia Boracay - You can find this amazing place at Station 1 just beside Ambassador in Paradise Hotel. They offer OFF PEAK Promos that you and your loved ones would surely take advantage of.

Top 3: Friday’s - Fridays Boracay is a AAA accredited, self contained 40 native cottage-style rooms resort. We have a freshwater swimming pool, a beachfront bar, and a 120-seat capacity restaurant considered by many to be the finest in the island. Their rooms looks native but extravagant, their room rates would prove that.

Top 4: Ambassador in Paradise - This 5-Star hotel is situated at Station 1, Boracay where me and my hubby stayed. The place was incredible! Their staff was amazing, very accommodating, courteous and trustworthy. The only thing I didn’t like was their food. It was way expensive, even though their serving was huge, it did not “WOW” us.

The beachfront looks heavenly. White sand reflects the ray of the sun… the ambiance was perfect.

Top 1: Discovery Shores - This is the perfect spot for the rich people, I must say. Their room rates were extremely expensive but their place was undeniably great. At night, they have this some kind of party where lots of people eat, socialize, watch movies on a big screen located just in front of the beach shores. If you have the money, I think this is the best place to spend it. =)

  1. Parasailing - This cost 1,500 per person.
  2. Helmet Diving - Same as parasailing, prepare 1,500 per person.
