Competitive Analysis is one of the best SEO strategies that I’ve been using ever since I started doing Search Engine Optimization. But for newbies who want to learn how SEO works, I thought that it would be great to share what competitive analysis is and how does it work.
Competitive Analysis
When optimizing a website, it is crucial to sneak on what your competitors are doing in order to stay on top of SEO efforts for your industry. This is the part where you detect whether your competitors are ahead of you or what their deficiencies are & then rush right past them in terms of traffic and search engine visibility.
Here are the most common factors that you must consider when performing a competitive analysis:
- Page Titles
- Meta Tags
- Quality of content
- Inbound & Outbound links
- Keyword density
- Website Structure
- Rankings
Now, you know what is a competitive analysis and how important it is for Search engine optimization. Watch out for my next posts where I’ll discuss each factors written above.

I'm a freelance Search Engine Specialist with almost 2 years experience in this arena. I have proven results in ranking keywords with corresponding (deep link)landing pages on the TOP 3 pages of Google Results.

Hi! It’s good to know we have a Kababayan who really knows how to do SEO.
Found your post on Twitter and yes I’m a SEO newbie.
I’ve been trying to get some jobs on Odesk but since I’m a dork when it comes to writing it seems I can’t land into one (or as you said maybe I wasn’t determined enough) so I decided to learn and experiment SEO on my dorky blog.
I’m about to ask for the meaning of each factors you presented. Good thing I read the last sentence.
Keeping an eye on your next post.
Thanks… Just keep on trying and never give up on applying for jobs. SEO requires continuous learning and it’s good you’re doing SEO on your site. I visited it and it looks good and very informative. Maybe, we can exchange links?
Will post about the factors within the week.
